Safety Hints

To help you enjoy a safe and pleasant walkathon, please read and be aware of the following.

  • Familiarise yourself with the route before setting out.
  • Walk the path that is clearly way-marked and maintained.
  • Don't deviate from the maintained path or make any detour as it is easy to lose direction and run into danger.
  • Pay special attention to potential climatic hazards before the event such as thunderstorm, typhoon and heavy shower.
  • Wear suitable clothes and footwear such as long-sleeved shirts and hats as a hat can keep off the sun and long-sleeved shirts keep you warm.
  • Carry suitable spare clothing and necessities like drinking water, torch, whistle, mobile phone and pen, etc.
  • Inform our staff if you wish to leave halfway so that we could make suitable arrangement to avoid you getting lost.
  • Don't eat wild fruit or drink untreated water during the event.
  • Don't light fire during the event as this is an illegal act and it could cause hill fire easily.
  • Avoid standing at the cliff edge or climbing onto rocks to take photos or admire the views as you will easily slip and get injured.
  • Inform our staff as soon as possible once you get injured so that we could seek help from St. John Ambulance.
